Typewriter

In 2014 I began using a Smith-Corona typewriter to create poems for others. Though writing is traditionally considered a solitary pursuit, I partner with strangers in the moment to create custom poetry on-demand. This work serves as a collaboration in which people offer vulnerability through storytelling and trust me to make art of their experiences. It also allows me to open others to the world of poetry who may not otherwise step through its doors.

Due to having a baby at home during the (still happening) pandemic, I am only available for online or outdoor events.

You can still give a unique gift by commissioning a poem! How does it work? Pick a topic, answer a few questions, and get a poem. Full 8×11 sheets are typed on stationery and ready to be framed. For an additional fee, I’m also available to offer an online reading of your commissioned piece.

This project has birthed thousands of poems. See a small sample below. Click an item to enlarge.
